STUDY AND STUDIO SPACE

Where You'll Learn and Work

The ART in Orvieto program occupies a remarkable space in Orvieto. Our classroom and studio spaces for the Graduate Seminar and Artists' Studio Residency will be located in the Monastery of the Servants of Mary (The Servite Order) leased by Gordon College.

The monastery is designed around a large cloister and the whole complex dates to the 1200s. The Servite Church, Santa Maria dei Servi, is a large architectural gem refashioned in the 1800s that forms the west side of the cloister.

The Classroom where the Graduate Seminar meets is across from the church on the main floor of the convent. It also contains a small library for participants’ use.

The Studio is along the north side of the cloister, divided into two adjoining spaces under a beautiful vaulted ceiling from the 1200s with plenty of room for sustained work on a variety of artistic projects. Participants in the Studio Residency will be allocated a personal workstation for the duration of the program where they can leave their supplies. Studio Residency participants will have continuous access to the Studio throughout the residency.
